Q: What type of organizations will benefit from the GENDB2 software?
A: DBA group and the DB2 Systems Programming group.

Q: Will the software simplify and automate recovery off-site disaster recovery as well as On-Site?
 A: Yes, both on-Site and off-Site Disaster Recovery. It will also automate the creation of the Job JCL, Control cards, and RBAs/LRSNs to:
(a) Register the latest Archive Log
(b) Delete/Newlog Active Logs entries
(c) Delete/Newlog Archive copied logs to replace BSDS information
(d) STARTRBA for DSN1LOGP Utility
(e) CRCR CRestart ENDRBA/ENDLRSN for Disaster Recovery restart in BSDS without the customer getting involved.
(f) Cat/Dir and User Tablespaces TORBA with/without LOGONLY is automated.

BSDS, Active Logs, Cat/Dir, and User Tablespace recoveries are also simplified and automated Off-Site as well as On-Site.

Q: Will I be able to test  GENDB2 DR functions at my local site before I go to my off-site disaster recovery location?
A: Yes, the Operation Guide contains a step-by-step procedure for performing a Partial disaster recovery test at a local site using another set of BSDS.

Q: After I install GENDB2, must I continue the DB2 Disk Pack Dump/Restore process for disaster recovery?
A: No, the IDCAMS Automation feature will eliminate the need to perform DB2 Disk Pack Dump/Restore. Time and resources are saved at your local and disaster recovery sites.

Q: If I stack several Image Copies on a tape volume, will GENDB2 generate the correct JCL to mount and retain the Image Copy tape only once for multiple tablespace recoveries in the same job?
A: Yes, single tape mounting for Cataloged Image Copies is one of the GENDB2 features.

Q: Does GENDB2 support different versions of DB2 concurrently?
A: Yes

Q: Are there any hooks to DB2?
A: No.

Q: Does the GENDB2 software requires authorized libraries?
A: No.

Q: Does the software requires highly qualified DBA's or DB2 Systems personnel to recover DB2 resources?
A: No, many of the panels are Pick and Choose.

Q: How long is the software installation procedure?
A: Approximately four hours. Two Iebgener jobs and fill-in two ISPF Panels. The user needs no systems installation experience.
